Punjab BJP’s new president, Keval Singh Dhillon, stated that Punjab is lagging in development and suggested that only a BJP government can boost growth. Dhillon, the first Jat Sikh to lead the BJP in Punjab, emphasized the progress seen in states governed by the BJP compared to Punjab’s slower pace without a BJP-led government. He expressed confidence in the BJP’s potential to win the 2027 Punjab elections.
Highlighting the achievements of the Narendra Modi government, Dhillon praised the Prime Minister’s policies for ensuring energy security amidst global challenges. He credited Modi for maintaining fuel stability in India despite the global petrol and diesel crisis. Dhillon commended Modi’s leadership, noting his efforts in transforming India’s economy and improving citizens’ quality of life.
Dhillon also lauded the Modi government’s infrastructure development initiatives, citing progress in road connectivity, railway expansion, and airport projects. He highlighted India’s enhanced global reputation under Modi’s leadership, emphasizing the Prime Minister’s international recognition and India’s strengthened position on the global stage.
Dhillon is set to officially take charge as Punjab BJP president on June 3 in Chandigarh, with a ceremony attended by various party leaders. His appointment is viewed as a strategic move to broaden the BJP’s support base in Punjab, particularly among Sikh and rural voters, ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
