Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar commended the Union Budget, likening it to Guru Ravidas Maharaj’s egalitarian principles, calling it a significant step towards a developed India. Jakhar criticized AAP and Congress for their alleged lack of economic comprehension, stating that the Budget would benefit cities like Jalandhar, Amritsar, and Ludhiana, as highlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Jakhar questioned Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s actions, accusing him of inaccurately claiming Punjab received nothing from the Budget and failing to engage with the Prime Minister on the state’s demands. He emphasized that the Budget, under PM Modi’s guidance, would enhance equality and development, particularly in sectors like fisheries, animal husbandry, and fertiliser subsidies.
The state BJP President urged CM Mann to engage with the Prime Minister to address Punjab’s additional demands effectively. He highlighted the Budget’s provisions for crop diversification and high-value crops, stressing that Punjab’s farmers would benefit significantly from the allocated funds for fertiliser subsidies and food grain procurement. Jakhar also noted the potential benefits for Punjab’s MSME, textile, and sports industries through agreements with the European Union and initiatives like Khelo India.
