The Railway Police Force (RPF) of Malda Division in West Bengal successfully rescued two minor children and apprehended a suspect during an anti-illegal ticketing operation. Acting on a tip-off about minors aboard Train No. 13175 without valid tickets, RPF teams conducted checks, leading to the discovery of the unaccompanied children.
The minors, found in the general coaches at the rear of the train, revealed that they had left their homes for personal reasons. Concerned for their safety, the RPF took the children into protective custody. Subsequently, they were handed over to the Child Help Line at Malda Town Railway Station for further care and necessary procedures, with their families duly informed.
In a parallel operation on the same day at the Passenger Reservation System counter in Malda Town Railway Station, a person was arrested for unauthorized dealings in railway reservation tickets. The search yielded multiple live railway reservation tickets, passenger details, a blank requisition form, a mobile phone with various user IDs for e-ticket generation, and cash amounting to Rs 3,700. The total value of the seized tickets was Rs 8,394, and the arrested individual, along with the confiscated items, was transferred to the relevant RPF authorities for further legal actions.
The RPF emphasized that these actions underscore their commitment to ensuring child safety, combating illegal activities, and upholding a secure railway environment for passengers. Regular surveillance and checks are conducted under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager, Malda, Manish Kumar Gupta, to deter crime and enhance passenger safety, with a recent special operation at Malda Town Railway Station overseen by Divisional Security Commissioner, Malda, Ashim Kumar Kullu.
