Former India head coach Ravi Shastri commended Sanju Samson for his crucial innings against the West Indies in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Super Eights match at Eden Gardens. Samson’s unbeaten 97 runs, including 12 fours and four sixes, led India to the semi-finals, earning him the Player of the Match award. Shastri highlighted Samson’s composure and skill, emphasizing his ability to stay calm despite wickets falling around him.

Shastri, speaking on The ICC Review, praised Samson’s temperament in the high-pressure game, noting his exceptional timing, placement, and power throughout the innings. He lauded Samson’s ability to maintain his cool in a knockout contest, acknowledging the expectations placed on the talented player. Samson’s performance not only met but exceeded expectations, bringing joy to fans worldwide.

In a challenging chase, India faced a tough situation after the dismissal of skipper Suryakumar Yadav. Samson then built crucial partnerships with Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya to steer India towards victory. Despite the match going down to the wire, Samson’s control over the game was evident. With India set to play England in the semi-final at Wankhede Stadium, Samson’s return to form provides a significant boost for the team ahead of the crucial clash.
