Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe has been diagnosed with a “semitendinosus muscle injury” in his left leg following discomfort in his hamstrings during a match against Real Betis. Mbappe requested to be substituted in the 35th minute of the second half and was replaced by Gonzalo Garcia in the 81st minute. The club has not specified a recovery timeline for the injury.
The injury was confirmed after examinations on Monday by the Real Madrid Medical Services. Real Madrid stated, “Following the tests carried out today on our player Kylian Mbappe by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left leg. Awaiting progress.” Mbappe marked his 100th match for Real Madrid against Betis, achieving 66 victories and 85 goals across all competitions during his time with the club.
Since his debut on August 14, 2024, Mbappe has played a total of 62 matches in LaLiga, 25 in the Champions League, 5 in the Copa del Rey, 4 in the Club World Cup, 3 in the Spanish Super Cup, and 1 in the UEFA Super Cup. In his first season with Real Madrid, Mbappe participated in 59 matches, scoring 44 goals, winning the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup, and receiving his first Golden Boot award. This season, he has played 41 matches, scoring an equal number of goals at an average of one per game, leading the top scorer charts in La Liga and the Champions League.
Real Madrid has five La Liga matches left in the season, with three away games and two at the Bernabeu. The current campaign will conclude in the penultimate week of May at the Bernabeu.
