Residents of Ranchi gathered in protest following the alleged lynching of a youth, blocking roads and urging the arrest of those responsible for the murder. The demonstration, held at Makhmandro Chowk under the Ratu police station limits, saw a large crowd burning tires and voicing their discontent with the police administration. The protesters called for swift action and the immediate apprehension of all suspects involved in the incident.
Police have taken into custody the two primary suspects, Indrajit Sahu and Vikas Sahu, linked to the case. Efforts are underway to capture the third suspect, Santosh Sahu. The episode unfolded in Lehna village under the Ratu police station area, where 25-year-old Rohit Mirdha was reportedly attacked by a group of individuals. Despite being rushed to a hospital in critical condition, he tragically succumbed to his injuries later that night.
Rohit Mirdha, the victim, was the nephew of Kamlesh Ram, the BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha state vice-president. An FIR has been lodged at the Ratu police station by the victim’s father, Udit Mirdha, naming Indrajit Sahu, Santosh Sahu, Vikas Sahu, and several unidentified individuals as the accused parties. The complaint details how Rohit was assaulted in the village, with even his family members facing mistreatment when they tried to intervene.
In response, Indrajit Sahu’s wife, Sharda Devi, has filed a counter-complaint alleging that Rohit had behaved inappropriately towards her, leading to a confrontation that resulted in the assault. Udit Mirdha, the victim’s father, refuted these claims, asserting they were unfounded and suggesting his son was targeted as part of a larger scheme, possibly related to a land dispute in the village. Police have assured a comprehensive investigation, considering all perspectives and available evidence.
