On the seventh day of the Budget Session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, political tensions escalated as Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Bhai Virendra leveled serious allegations against the state government and the Bihar Police. Virendra claimed that individuals from particular castes and religions were being singled out in police encounters, emphasizing that while action against criminals is necessary, targeting specific communities is unjust.
The RJD MLA expressed concern over the alleged trend of individuals with surnames like Gop, Yadav, Rai, or Khan being involved in encounter incidents, insinuating bias in the targeting process. He further accused the Bihar government of shielding several criminals, with criminal activities reportedly originating from areas such as Mokama, Barh, and Nalanda.
Additionally, Virendra criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership and decision-making abilities, questioning his mental state and the competence of his advisors. He facetiously suggested that the Chief Minister should receive medical treatment to improve his condition, sparking controversy and intensifying political discussions in Bihar.
The accusations have stirred up the political climate in Bihar, particularly following recent contentious remarks made in the Assembly involving Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi. Despite the uproar, there has been no official response from the Bihar government or the police regarding the allegations.
In a separate incident on Wednesday, a notorious criminal named Rajiv Kumar Rai, also known as Surya Don, was apprehended after an encounter in Patna’s Gaighat area. Rai sustained a gunshot wound in his leg during the exchange of fire with the Bihar STF.
