The Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, a joint effort by the Ministry of Rural Development and SBI, is playing a crucial role in empowering rural youth. Particularly popular is the cutting and tailoring course, attracting many young women aspiring to launch their businesses post-training. RSETI offers various free short-term residential training programs, including agriculture, product manufacturing, and more, aiming to assist trainees in setting up micro-enterprises.
Beneficiary Insha Banoo expressed her newfound self-reliance through the scheme, highlighting the valuable skills acquired during her stay at the institute. Encouraging others to join, she emphasized the benefits of the program in fostering independence. Another trainee, Abisha Sharief, praised the tailoring course for equipping her with practical skills essential for self-sustenance, emphasizing the hands-on training provided.
The tailoring program at RSETI, spanning 31 days, focuses on imparting essential skills like stitching and fabric knowledge to students. Trainer Arpana Korwal emphasized the quality training offered, enabling students to venture into entrepreneurship confidently. Faheem Raja Munshi, SBI Faculty at RSETI Doda, highlighted the institute’s significant impact since its inception in 2012, with over 6,000 students trained and a majority now self-employed.
The initiative at RSETI is a vital step in addressing rural unemployment and fostering entrepreneurship among the youth in remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
