As the West Bengal Assembly election results are being tallied, Samajwadi Party’s Ayodhya MP, Awadhesh Prasad, voiced assurance in Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her Trinamool Congress securing a win. Prasad accused the BJP of attempting to undermine democratic principles during the elections, emphasizing Mamata Banerjee’s anticipated victory despite significant central forces’ deployment.
The ongoing battle between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the opposition BJP in West Bengal shows a tight competition, with the BJP slightly leading after the initial counting hours. Out of 293 assembly constituencies, trends for 176 were available by 10 a.m., with the BJP leading in 90 seats and the Trinamool Congress in 82. Additionally, Congress and CPI-M candidates were ahead in two seats each.
Notable leaders like Suvendu Adhikari, Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul, and Swapan Dasgupta from the BJP are currently leading in various assembly constituencies. Meanwhile, some members of Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet, such as Dr. Sashi Panja, were marginally trailing as per the latest trends. The high-profile contest in the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency between Mamata Banerjee and Adhikari is eagerly awaited, with rounds of voting ranging from a minimum of ten to a maximum of 26 based on constituency-wise voter numbers.
