Seven members of a family tragically lost their lives in Valsad, Gujarat, when their car collided with a truck near Kumbhghat on the Kaparada–Nanapondha highway. The victims, hailing from Amba Jungle village in Kaparada taluka, included five men and two women who were in the car at the time of the accident.
The collision occurred at a sharp bend on the accident-prone Kumbhghat stretch, resulting in severe damage to the car and trapping its occupants inside. Local residents, upon hearing the crash, rushed to the scene to assist emergency responders in rescuing the victims from the wreckage.
While five occupants succumbed to their injuries on the spot, two critically injured men were rushed to a nearby hospital where they later passed away, bringing the total death toll to seven. Inspector Surajsinh Vasava confirmed the details, mentioning that the route where the accident happened has a history of such incidents, often involving trucks.
The truck driver also sustained injuries in the crash and is currently receiving medical treatment. Inspector Vasava stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident, with the bodies undergoing post-mortem examinations and legal procedures being carried out.
