Nirmal Singh, President of the Central Singh Sabha Gurudwara in Alambagh, Lucknow, has praised the foundation stone laying for a Sikh museum in Kurukshetra, Haryana. He views this as a significant step in preserving Sikh Gurus’ legacy and traditions. Singh emphasized the importance of the museum in educating future generations about Sikh history, the Gurus’ sacrifices, and India’s cultural heritage.
Singh expressed gratitude for the national recognition of Sikh history and traditions by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He believes that this acknowledgment sends a positive message to the Sikh community and marks a historic day for them. Singh highlighted the inspiring stories of renunciation, sacrifice, and service to humanity that characterize Sikh history spanning over 550 years.
The President stressed the need for the museum to prominently feature the sacrifices of Sikh Gurus, including Mata Gujri, the four Sahibzadas, and Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s family. He underlined the emotional significance of events from December 22 to December 27 and suggested presenting these narratives in a modern format to inspire youth and children towards national dedication and faith.
Nirmal Singh also acknowledged the fulfillment of a long-standing demand of the Sikh community with the national observance of Veer Bal Diwas. He mentioned the importance of this day in instilling courage, righteousness, and moral values in children, not only in India but also globally. Singh recognized the contributions and sufferings of the Sikh community, particularly referencing the pain endured during the Partition and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Appreciating recent efforts towards justice, compensation, and rehabilitation for riot victims, Singh expressed hope within the community. He commended the Prime Minister’s gestures of respect at Gurdwaras, stating that these acts honor the martyrdom and ideals of the Sikh Gurus. Singh emphasized the Sikh community’s commitment to India’s unity, brotherhood, progress, and its dedication to nation-building.
