Strong reactions have emerged from supporters of Independent MP Pappu Yadav from Purnea following his arrest by Patna Police in connection with a 1995 forgery case. Many have alleged political vendetta and questioned the timing and manner of the arrest. Nitish Singh, a supporter of Pappu Yadav, expressed concerns over the MP’s arrest, stating that he is targeted whenever he raises issues concerning Bihar.
Singh highlighted that whenever Pappu Yadav addresses matters related to Bihar, such as education, unemployment, or justice, he faces repercussions. He cited an instance when the MP raised concerns about a NEET aspirant’s death in Parliament, leading to government action against him. Singh also mentioned worries about Pappu Yadav’s health, noting that multiple doctors are currently attending to him due to his unstable condition.
Gautam Anand, another supporter, raised questions about the legality of the arrest, particularly during an ongoing Parliament session. Anand criticized the arrest of a sitting MP in the middle of the night, labeling it as unacceptable and legally dubious. Sujit Yadav echoed similar sentiments, alleging that Pappu Yadav is being deliberately harassed to divert attention from critical issues concerning students and the underprivileged.
Naval Kishore Yadav, reacting to the arrest, criticized what he perceived as a breakdown of democratic values in Bihar. He expressed disappointment over what he described as a collapse of democracy in the state, emphasizing the prevalence of lawlessness. In contrast, police officials defended the arrest, stating that it was conducted lawfully. SP City Bhanu Pratap Singh clarified that the arrest was made at the MP’s residence in connection with a 1995 case, following a court-issued property attachment warrant.
Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, an Independent Bihar MP from Purnea, was arrested late on Friday amid dramatic circumstances. The arrest was executed due to a court-issued property attachment warrant resulting from the MP’s repeated absence during court hearings. The case dates back to a 1995 forgery dispute reported at the Gardanibagh police station, where a property owner alleged that the MP fraudulently acquired his property for office use without proper disclosure.
The arrest of Pappu Yadav has sparked a fresh political controversy in Bihar, with supporters decrying alleged misuse of legal procedures while authorities assert that the arrest was in compliance with the law.
