Tamil Nadu Social Welfare and Women’s Rights Minister Jagatheeswari announced plans to raise the monthly women’s entitlement assistance from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500. This increase is intended for all eligible beneficiaries across the state, ensuring wider support for women in need. The government’s commitment to fulfilling promises and extending welfare schemes to deserving women in Tamil Nadu was emphasized during an eye screening camp organized in Rajapalayam to celebrate Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s birthday.
The Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, as highlighted by Jagatheeswari, is dedicated to the welfare of the people and is focused on maintaining a corruption-free administration. She assured the public that the TVK government is resolute in its stance against corruption, with a firm pledge that there will be zero tolerance for any form of corruption within the government. Jagatheeswari urged the public to report any incidents where government officials request bribes for public services, promising swift and strict action upon verification of such claims.
Jagatheeswari also addressed the ongoing Women’s Rights Entitlement Scheme, stating that the government presently disburses Rs 1,000 monthly to eligible women. Plans are underway to elevate this assistance to Rs 2,500 per month, ensuring a more substantial financial aid package for deserving women. The minister assured beneficiaries that the government would fulfill its commitment, guaranteeing that eligible women will receive the increased financial support once the necessary processes are finalized.
The government has received numerous new applications from women who previously did not receive benefits under the scheme. Jagatheeswari highlighted instances of eligible applicants being overlooked and cases of multiple applications from the same individual. To rectify these issues, the government is conducting a thorough verification process to eliminate duplicate applications, address discrepancies, and ensure that only legitimate beneficiaries are included in the scheme. This verification process aims to implement the Women’s Rights Entitlement Scheme transparently and inclusively, benefiting all eligible women in Tamil Nadu. The minister urged the public to be patient, reiterating the government’s commitment, as promised by Chief Minister Vijay, to increase the monthly assistance to Rs 2,500 post the completion of the verification and implementation procedures.
