The Tamil Nadu Staff Selection Commission has decided to postpone the Group II and Group II-A main examinations statewide due to serious irregularities reported at multiple examination centers. This announcement has impacted numerous candidates who were set to take part in these important recruitment tests. The exams were intended for various government positions, such as Assistant Inspector, Junior Employment Officer, Probation Officer, and others in the Group II cadre.
A total of 828 vacancies were announced in July 2025, with over 4.2 lakh candidates appearing for the preliminary examination last year. Following the release of results in December, 1,126 candidates qualified for Group II posts, while 9,457 were eligible for Group II-A positions. The subject examination for Group II-A was scheduled for the morning, with the Tamil eligibility test for both categories set for the afternoon.
However, due to irregularities at seven examination centers, including private colleges in Nandanam and Arumbakkam in Chennai, the day’s tests were immediately canceled. This postponement was later extended to all 38 centers across Tamil Nadu. Candidates faced issues like missing roll numbers, poor coordination, and last-minute changes to exam centers, leading to protests and confusion at various locations.
The Commission initially suspended exams at seven Chennai centers but eventually decided to postpone the entire state’s examination to ensure fairness. Commission Chairman Prabhakar mentioned that a new exam date would be announced after a thorough review. Authorities have promised to take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure a smooth recruitment process.
