Telangana’s Director General of Police, C. V. Anand, has instructed the police force to prioritize visible and effective policing to boost public confidence and improve police-public relations. In a high-level meeting with Unit Officers and Station House Officers (SHOs) from across the state in Hyderabad, the focus was on enhancing people-centric policing through increased use of technology and improving police service efficiency.
Anand emphasized the importance of officers being accessible to the public and conducting regular visits to police stations under their jurisdiction to evaluate law and order, crime detection, investigation quality, policing practices, and local public concerns. He highlighted that field visits help in identifying on-ground issues and ensuring timely corrective actions.
The Director General directed that visiting hours at police stations should be strictly adhered to and stressed that officers should operate from their offices rather than camp offices to enhance accessibility and accountability. He also emphasized the need for officers to maintain professionalism, address complaints against police conduct seriously, avoid unnecessary involvement in civil disputes, especially land-related issues, and monitor social media for misinformation and rumors.
