The Tiruchy tourism department is planning to work with local influencers and utilize social media campaigns to bring attention to lesser-known tourist spots in the district like Puliyancholai, Pachamalai Hills, Birds Park, and Mangalam Falls. The objective is to attract more visitors, especially young travelers, and stimulate the local economy by generating more livelihood opportunities for nearby residents. District Tourism Officer S. M. Sribalamurugan highlighted that this initiative aligns with the current trend of digital-driven tourism. By partnering with local influencers, the department aims to expand outreach and enhance public awareness about these scenic yet under-visited locations. Additionally, they aim to transform these spots into appealing weekend getaways while emphasizing environmental sustainability and community involvement.
A key aspect of the district’s tourism strategy is the proposed theme park at Mukkombu, awaiting a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the water resources department (WRD). Once approvals are obtained and infrastructure development commences, targeted promotional activities will be launched to showcase the upgraded facilities at the site. The digital content will feature newly constructed access roads, improved basic amenities, and enhanced safety measures. By providing accurate information about these enhancements, the department anticipates an increase in visitors and the promotion of responsible tourism.
However, local residents and travel enthusiasts emphasize the importance of synchronizing marketing efforts with infrastructure enhancements. They point out that many tourist spots in Tiruchy have untapped potential but lack visibility, proper signage, amenities, and travel information. Comparing Tiruchy with other districts like Namakkal, Dindigul, Salem, and Tirupattur, enthusiasts note the superior infrastructure in these areas, including better road connectivity, clear route maps, and dedicated viewpoints. They suggest that Tiruchy should prioritize improving basic facilities before focusing on influencer-driven promotions. Without essential amenities like rest areas, parking spaces, drinking water, and cleanliness, tourists may not be inclined to revisit, regardless of online marketing efforts.
The Tourism Department asserts that its approach encompasses both infrastructure development and promotional activities. If executed effectively, officials believe that this initiative could position Tiruchy as a regional center for nature-based and unique tourism experiences, enhancing its competitiveness among neighboring destinations.
