Two young brothers tragically drowned while bathing in the Ban Ganga pond near Baneshwar Sthan in Barri village, Madhubani district, Bihar. The incident, which happened around 11:30 am, caused panic in the area, drawing a large crowd to the scene. According to Shivsharan Sah, the SHO of Benipatti police station, the children got into deep water and began to drown while bathing in the pond.
A teacher and local villagers noticed the distressing situation, raised an alarm, and swiftly jumped into the pond to rescue the children. Despite collective efforts to save them, two of the children were found unconscious, while the third child remained stable. The unconscious children, identified as Shivam Mishra (13) and Ayush Mishra (12), were rushed to Benipatti Sub-Divisional Hospital in an auto-rickshaw, but were declared brought dead by doctors upon arrival.
Dr. Vikas Harinandan, a doctor at the hospital, confirmed the tragic deaths, stating that the children had already passed away before reaching the medical facility. Following the incident, local authorities took action, with BDBDO Maheshwar Pandit and divers searching the pond to ensure no other child was in danger. The children’s father, Vipin Mishra, who works in Delhi and had experienced a tragic loss before, was plunged into mourning along with the entire village.
