Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray criticized the ruling Mahayuti government for alleged corruption and silencing the public voice during a rally before the upcoming municipal elections for 29 corporations, including Mumbai and Thane on January 15.
At the rally, Uddhav Thackeray, alongside Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray, highlighted claims of monetary influence in elections and commended candidates who resisted bribes to switch sides.
Referring to instances of cash-filled envelopes being distributed in the Kalyan-Dombivli region, Uddhav Thackeray accused that seats were being purchased rather than earned post-elections.
Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Uddhav Thackeray alleged that governance had been handed over to corporate interests.
He clarified that his collaboration with Raj Thackeray aimed at awakening the Marathi community, not for seat-sharing purposes, and emphasized his stance on the importance of the Marathi language.
