Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy criticized Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for claiming to break the record of the longest-serving Chief Minister, stating that such a record does not merit celebration but should be “buried.” Kumaraswamy expressed disappointment in Siddaramaiah’s governance, labeling it as a prime example of bad administration. He emphasized that the state, once known for good governance, now reflects inefficiency and poor leadership under Siddaramaiah’s tenure.
Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, Kumaraswamy highlighted the decline in governance standards, accusing the current administration of rampant corruption, criminal activities, and a lack of effective governance. He predicted that Siddaramaiah would be the last Chief Minister of the Congress party in Karnataka, citing voters’ dissatisfaction with the government’s performance. Kumaraswamy also criticized the government for its failure to maintain law and order, blaming the Chief Minister and Home Minister for their inadequate response to incidents and lack of decisive action.
The Union Minister demanded strict action against those involved in recent stone-pelting incidents targeting devotees in Bengaluru, emphasizing a deteriorating law and order situation in the state. He condemned the government for its handling of such incidents and called for accountability in maintaining public safety. As the debate over leadership continues within the Congress party, Siddaramaiah is poised to match the record of the longest-serving Chief Minister of Karnataka, previously held by D. Devaraj Urs.
