Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, hailed the BJP’s triumph in the West Bengal Assembly elections as more than just a political success during his visit to Jodhpur. He described it as a triumph of India’s cultural consciousness and a clash of civilizations. Shekhawat emotionally recounted the BJP’s struggles in Bengal, acknowledging the sacrifices of party workers and the pivotal role of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in bolstering the party in the state.
Placing the election results in a historical perspective, Shekhawat highlighted West Bengal’s diverse political and ideological transitions over the centuries. He emphasized that the state now has a government dedicated to nationalist ideology and Hindutva for the first time. Shekhawat asserted that the election was not only about victory but also about safeguarding the Constitution and the federal structure, accusing the previous administration of promoting demographic imbalance and supporting infiltrators.
Reflecting on the BJP’s journey in West Bengal since 2016, Shekhawat recalled the atmosphere of fear and political violence faced by party supporters. He commended Home Minister Amit Shah for assuring party workers of a stronger future after the 2016 defeat. Shekhawat also highlighted alleged violence against BJP workers, stating that he personally sheltered several workers in his Delhi residence following attacks on their homes.
Union Minister Shekhawat attributed the BJP’s successful election strategy in West Bengal to Home Minister Amit Shah’s efforts in ensuring a significant deployment of security forces for peaceful polling. Drawing a comparison to the Ramayana, Shekhawat likened the BJP’s campaign to Lord Ram’s battle against Ravana, emphasizing the party’s unification and empowerment of people living in fear. He credited the victory to the party’s mobilization of the masses through “Lok Sangrah” and acknowledged the contributions of various BJP leaders and workers to the campaign.
Highlighting West Bengal’s significance in realizing the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047,” Union Minister Shekhawat dedicated the electoral success to the relentless efforts of party workers who persevered despite challenges.
