Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Paatil introduced the Sujal Gaon ID, a unique digital identifier for mapping rural piped water supply assets. This initiative aims to bring all rural water supply schemes under a unified national platform. Currently, 1.64 lakh Sujal Gaon IDs have been established across 31 States/UTs, connected to 67,000 Sujalam Bharat IDs.
The Minister emphasized the importance of timely scheme completion and on-ground monitoring to ensure the success of the Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. He highlighted the need for State Governments to be accountable for providing reliable tap water to rural households. V. Somanna, Minister of State, Ministry of Jal Shakti, also attended the meeting and stressed the importance of adhering to technical specifications for sustainable rural water supply systems.
The Sujalam Bharat ID integrates infrastructure and service area IDs, creating a comprehensive digital record of rural water service delivery. This digital reform enhances transparency and monitoring, aligning with the vision of a technologically empowered Viksit Bharat @2047.
