Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution, Pralhad Joshi, participated in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls at his residence in Hubballi. He emphasized the importance of citizens cooperating with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) by providing necessary documents and information during the house-to-house verification process.
Joshi highlighted that the ongoing house-to-house survey under the SIR exercise in Karnataka requires full public cooperation with the visiting BLOs. He stressed the significance of every voter ensuring that their details are accurately recorded in the electoral rolls by providing the required documents and information.
Addressing a press conference in Hubballi, Joshi raised concerns about alleged irregularities in the SIR exercise across Karnataka. He announced that a BJP delegation, comprising Union Ministers and senior party leaders, would meet the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer with evidence of these irregularities. Joshi expressed discontent over the reported mass distribution of SIR forms in public places and mosques, instead of through mandatory house-to-house verification.
Joshi further alleged that the SIR process was being conducted improperly in various locations, including specific wards and booths in Hubballi-Dharwad and Savanur. He emphasized the need for officials and staff involved in the SIR exercise to perform their duties independently and in adherence to the Election Commission’s guidelines.
