US Congressman Tim Moore emphasized India’s significance as a “natural ally” of the United States, urging enhanced collaboration in technology, energy, and advanced manufacturing. Speaking at the Capitol Hill Summit 2026, Moore highlighted the growing Indian American community in North Carolina and the strengthening business connections with India, underscoring the enduring importance of the bilateral relationship. He acknowledged the substantial economic benefits North Carolina has reaped from Indian investments and talent, particularly in the Research Triangle region’s universities and technology sectors.
Moore, a Republican representing North Carolina’s 14th Congressional District, noted that Indian American companies had injected more than $1 billion into North Carolina, fostering the creation of numerous job opportunities within the state. He identified artificial intelligence, data centers, energy infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing as key sectors offering significant prospects for future cooperation between the US and India. Moore emphasized the potential for collaboration in nuclear energy and small modular reactor technology, considering them promising areas for joint efforts between Washington and New Delhi.
Highlighting the escalating energy demands due to expanding economies and burgeoning artificial intelligence infrastructure in both countries, Moore stressed the necessity for technological advancement to keep pace. He commended the contributions of Indian Americans in North Carolina, lauding their substantial role in the state’s economic and educational advancement. Moore also addressed concerns regarding visa and immigration issues affecting Indian students and professionals in the US, emphasizing the importance of engaging with congressional representatives on such matters.
During the discussion, Moore underscored India’s stable governance and democratic system, positioning the country as an increasingly crucial strategic and economic partner for the United States, especially amidst heightened global competition, notably with China. Recognizing the similarities in governance frameworks between the two democracies, Moore highlighted the stability of India’s government as a key factor in strengthening the bilateral relationship. Elected to the US House of Representatives in 2024 after a decade as Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives, Moore’s remarks underscored the growing importance of US-India ties in the evolving geopolitical landscape.
