Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed officials to conduct a thorough fire safety audit of hospitals, coaching centers, malls, hotels, and other public buildings in the state. This decision follows a recent fire incident in Lucknow that resulted in 15 fatalities. Dhami emphasized the government’s commitment to public safety and zero tolerance for non-compliance with fire safety regulations.

The Chief Minister directed officials to identify establishments with inadequate fire safety measures and ensure necessary improvements are made promptly. He stressed the importance of assessing fire safety equipment, emergency exits, electrical systems, and evacuation preparedness. The audit process is expected to be completed within a specified timeframe through collaboration among relevant departments.

During a meeting at the state Secretariat, officials including representatives from the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee and the Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust were present. Similar safety checks are being conducted at coaching centers and commercial buildings nationwide to enhance disaster preparedness and save lives in emergencies. In Kanpur Dehat, authorities have instructed inspections at coaching centers and commercial sites to verify compliance with fire safety protocols and ensure community safety.
