Vice President Emphasizes Integrity and Vigilance to Defence Accounts Officers

Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan addressed Officer Trainees of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) of the 2023 and 2024 batches, highlighting the importance of upholding integrity and vigilance in managing public funds. He stressed that maintaining high standards of transparency and accountability is crucial as public money comes from taxpayers’ hard-earned contributions. Radhakrishnan emphasized the significance of prudent financial management for ensuring the readiness of the Armed Forces. He urged officers to comprehend the challenges faced by the Armed Forces and emphasized the need for continuous capacity building in light of rapid technological advancements. The Vice President also underscored the value of character in public service, stating that officers have a unique opportunity to drive positive societal change. Responding to a query on civil servants’ role in building a developed India, he encouraged innovation, adaptability to modern technologies, enthusiasm, empathy, and ethical conduct. Radhakrishnan highlighted the vital role of the Indian Defence Accounts Service in managing financial resources for the Armed Forces and allied organizations, noting its longstanding history of over 275 years.
