In a positive development for India ahead of the T20 World Cup, all-rounder Washington Sundar has started batting in the nets at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Sundar, recovering from a rib injury, is gradually increasing his intensity under rehabilitation. A source mentioned that initial discomfort is expected due to the lack of recent activity, but Sundar is on the path to full recovery.
Sidelined since experiencing rib discomfort during an ODI against New Zealand on January 11, Sundar has been out of action. After consulting with a specialist in Mumbai, he began his rehab program on January 20 at the CoE following a period of rest in Chennai. The focus now is on gradually enhancing Sundar’s skill training workload while ensuring a patient approach to his recovery.
As preparations for the T20 World Cup progress, there is anticipation regarding Sundar’s return to bowling activities. With a significant role in India’s T20 setup, his progress is being closely monitored. Since his debut in 2017, Sundar has been a key figure in the Indian T20 squad, contributing with both bat and ball in the limited-overs format.
