Hollywood actress Zazie Beetz shared her experience filming ‘They Will Kill You’, highlighting the demanding conditions she faced. She disclosed shooting in freezing cold water for long 12-hour days during the project. Despite finding action scenes and handling weapons easier, she struggled with filming in faux rain, especially in Cape Town, South Africa, during winter.
Zazie explained that the rain scenes, though sporadic in the movie, were the most challenging due to the use of cold water from rain machines. She emphasized the difficulty of shooting sequences that lasted days, enduring freezing temperatures from evening till morning. The intense fake rain scenes required her to fully commit and be present throughout the filming of ‘They Will Kill You’.
The actress expressed how empowering it was to play the lead role of Asia in the horror-action film directed by Kirill Sokolov. Zazie described the character’s journey of survival in a demonic cult’s death-trap lair as a bold battle filled with epic kills and dark humor. Taking on a leading role for the first time, she embraced the experience with gratitude, aiming to inspire the cast and crew with her dedication and presence.
Zazie Beetz reflected on the transformative experience of being a strong leader on set, emphasizing the need to set aside personal feelings and fully engage in the work. She viewed the opportunity as a practice in embracing her womanhood and growing as a performer. The actress expressed her gratitude for the chance to lead, stating that it enriched her heart and empowered her in unexpected ways.
