Paneer Bhurji is a flavorful, protein-rich dish made with crumbled paneer (Indian cottage cheese), aromatic spices, and fresh herbs. This quick and easy North Indian delicacy is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and pairs well with roti, paratha, or bread. If you’re looking for a healthy, delicious, and high-protein vegetarian dish, this recipe is a must-try!

Ingredients:

Main Ingredients:

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic (minced)
  • 200 grams paneer (crumbled)
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 medium tomato (finely chopped)
  • 1 green chili (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger (grated)

Spices & Seasoning:

  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt (to taste)

Other Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon oil or butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions:

Step 1: Sauté the Aromatics

  1. Heat oil or butter in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  4. Stir in the green chili, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Sauté for another minute until fragrant.

Step 2: Cook the Tomatoes & Spices

  1. Add finely chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.
  2. Sprinkle turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes until the spices blend in.

Step 3: Add Paneer & Final Touches

  1. Crumble the paneer and add it to the pan. Stir well to combine with the spices.
  2. Cook for 2-3 minutes, ensuring the paneer absorbs the flavors.
  3. Sprinkle garam masala and mix well.
  4. Turn off the heat and add fresh coriander leaves and lemon juice for extra flavor.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve Paneer Bhurji hot with roti, paratha, or plain bread.
  • It can also be used as a stuffing for sandwiches, wraps, or dosa.
  • Pair it with jeera rice or plain steamed rice for a wholesome meal.

  • For a richer taste, replace oil with ghee.
  • Add capsicum or bell peppers for extra crunch.
  • You can also make a creamy version by adding a little fresh cream or yogurt.
  • Adjust the spice levels as per your taste.
