The Embassy of India in Vietnam expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese authorities for their assistance in the matter. They specifically thanked various agencies, including the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone, An Giang Province, and the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ho Chi Minh City, for their support following the tragic incident.
In another development, an Indian national who was receiving treatment in Phu Quoc after the accident underwent a successful medical procedure on Sunday evening. The individual was subsequently transferred to a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday, with family members also arriving in the country to be with him.
Vietnamese authorities in southern An Giang province detained and initiated legal proceedings against a local man, 57-year-old Captain Nguyen Hong Hai, for alleged violations related to the capsized tourist boat.
