The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formally asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to relocate all their 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup games from India due to safety concerns. This decision came after an emergency board meeting where the BCB expressed worries about the safety of the Bangladesh National Team in India. The BCB cited ongoing tensions between India and Bangladesh as a reason for their request to move the matches.
India and Sri Lanka are set to co-host the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup from February 7 to March 8 at various venues in both countries. Bangladesh’s refusal to play in India could potentially disrupt the tournament schedule, as their matches were scheduled to take place in Kolkata and Mumbai. The BCB emphasized that the safety and well-being of their players, officials, and stakeholders are paramount, urging the ICC to understand their concerns and respond promptly.
