After announcing his electoral debut in the upcoming Bankipur Assembly constituency bypoll, Prashant Kishor, the founder of Jan Suraaj, is set to contest against the BJP in Bihar. BJP leaders have expressed confidence that Kishor will receive fewer votes than the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
The BJP, a long-standing force in Bankipur, had its President Nitin Nabin win the seat by a significant margin in the previous Bihar Assembly elections. BJP National Spokesperson R.P. Singh remarked that Kishor is contesting merely to lose his deposit, not expecting to garner substantial votes.
Despite Kishor’s entry into the race, BJP leaders like Syed Shahnawaz Hussain remain unfazed, emphasizing the party’s three-decade dominance in the Bankipur Assembly seat. Janata Dal-United leader Chandeshwar Prasad acknowledged Kishor’s right to contest but expressed skepticism about his chances of success.
Prashant Kishor, addressing the media in Patna, highlighted the JSP’s commitment to contest the by-election with determination, aiming to usher in “alternative politics” in Bihar. Kishor’s vision for change in Bihar through Jan Suraaj has garnered support, with hopes that a victory in the Bankipur by-election will rejuvenate this movement.
