Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Nabin slammed Kerala’s major political alliances, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) and the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF), accusing them of vying to be seen as “anti-Sanatan” forces. Nabin highlighted the UDF’s alignment with groups like Jamaat-e-Islami and the Muslim League, while also criticizing the LDF for corruption and disrespecting faith, particularly towards Lord Ayyappa.
Nabin emphasized that both UDF and LDF allies have consistently taken actions that offend followers of Sanatana Dharma. He cited examples, such as the Tamil Nadu-led DMK government’s restrictions on performing Deepam Puja in temples, to support his claims. The BJP President’s comments come amid his significant visit to Kerala, where he is focusing on organizational reviews, meetings with party leaders, and public engagement to strengthen the party’s presence in the state.
During his visit to Kochi, Ernakulam, and Thrissur, Nabin reiterated the BJP’s stance in Kerala, criticizing the UDF for alleged ties with radical Islamist groups and accusing the LDF of anti-Hindu positions, particularly related to issues like the Sabarimala temple and Lord Ayyappa’s traditions. The BJP’s efforts in Kerala include grassroots activities like booth-level interactions and wall paintings, reflecting a push to solidify its base in a state where it has faced electoral challenges.
