Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited Max Hospital in Saket to meet the victims injured in the Malviya Nagar fire tragedy. The fire, which occurred in a congested lane of South Delhi, claimed 21 lives and left many others injured. The Chief Minister’s visit followed her request for a detailed report on the incident from the South Delhi District Magistrate.
Some opposition leaders criticized Chief Minister Gupta for not being present at the site of the tragic fire. Despite ordering a thorough inquiry and promising strict action against those responsible, her absence drew backlash from the Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi unit Chief Saurabh Bharadwaj. Bharadwaj expressed disappointment over the delayed response and lack of direct interaction with affected families by the Chief Minister.
In response to the criticism, Chief Minister Gupta expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and emphasized the need for a comprehensive report on the fire incident. She assured that stringent measures would be taken against any negligence contributing to the disaster. Additionally, she pledged full support to the victims and their families, offering all necessary assistance during this challenging time.
Chief Minister Gupta conveyed her condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. She highlighted the immediate mobilization of emergency response teams upon receiving the news, including the Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, and other agencies.
