Former cricketer and BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi to talk about issues concerning Punjab’s progress and law enforcement. Singh highlighted the importance of cooperation from the Central Government to safeguard Punjab’s interests and enhance its development. Previously, Singh had criticized the governance and corruption in Punjab, emphasizing the need for improvement.
His meeting with Amit Shah follows his recent switch from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to the BJP, along with six other Rajya Sabha MPs. This move significantly reduced AAP’s representation in the Upper House from 10 members to just three. The new BJP members, including Harbhajan Singh, expressed concerns about the alleged misuse of state resources by the AAP-led government in Punjab.
Raghav Chadha, one of the MPs who joined the BJP, raised issues with the President regarding the purported misuse of police and administrative resources by the Punjab government against MPs who switched parties. The political landscape in Punjab has witnessed significant shifts with these defections and the subsequent discussions on governance and resource utilization.
