Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that it is acceptable for state MLAs to seek Ministerial positions by visiting New Delhi. He emphasized that the decision regarding Cabinet reshuffling lies with the Congress high command. Speaking at the N.R. Pura travellers’ bungalow, he addressed queries on the delay in the reshuffle, attributing it to the elections in five states and the Budget session.
Siddaramaiah responded to concerns about potential resignations within the Congress, noting that his political secretary Naseer Ahmed has not resigned yet. He expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in the upcoming Assembly bypolls in Karnataka, emphasizing that electoral outcomes should not lead to punitive actions against individuals. The Chief Minister highlighted the commencement of the long-awaited bridge construction in Narasimharajapura during his tenure, contrasting it with the lack of progress during the BJP’s rule.
Regarding allegations of favoring resorts over forest dwellers’ land rights in the Malnad region, CM Siddaramaiah assured a forthcoming meeting to address forest rights issues. In response to criticism from Kerala about tourist safety in Karnataka following an incident in Chikkamagaluru, he pledged an investigation into the matter. Despite this incident, he refuted claims that Karnataka is unsafe for tourists, asserting the state’s commitment to visitor safety.
