Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha and senior leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party will participate in the swearing-in events of the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party-led governments in West Bengal and Assam on May 10 and May 12, respectively.
In West Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party made history by securing 207 seats in the 294-member Assembly, defeating the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee, which managed to win only 80 seats.
In Assam, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led alliance, including the Asom Gana Parishad and the Bodoland Peoples Front, won a total of 102 seats out of 126, ensuring the party’s third consecutive term in power.
Tripura Chief Minister Saha and other party leaders have already arrived in Kolkata for the swearing-in ceremony on May 10, coinciding with Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary as per the Bengali calendar.
The oath-taking ceremony in Assam on May 12 will also be attended by several Bharatiya Janata Party leaders from Tripura, as confirmed by party sources.
Saha praised PM Modi’s leadership, attributing the party’s success in various states to his influence and described him as a unique figure in Indian politics.
He criticized Mamata Banerjee for not resigning after the electoral loss and congratulated Suvendu Adhikari on being elected leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party Legislative Party in West Bengal.
