Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei clarified that the recent attacks on parts of Turkey and Oman were not conducted by Iranian armed forces or their allies. Khamenei conveyed this message while extending greetings for Eid-ul-Fitr and Nowruz, emphasizing Iran’s positive relations with both countries.
Khamenei cautioned against Israel’s use of “false flag” operations to sow discord between Iran and its neighbors, noting the potential for such actions in other nations as well. He underscored Iran’s commitment to fostering good relations with neighboring countries and encouraged Afghanistan and Pakistan to improve their ties.
The Iranian leader also highlighted the nation’s focus on enhancing living standards, infrastructure, welfare, and wealth creation for its citizens in the new year, which he declared as the “year of resistance economy in light of national unity.” Additionally, NATO recently deployed an extra Patriot air defense system to Turkey following the interception of a ballistic missile from Iran toward Turkish airspace.
The Turkish Defence Ministry confirmed the deployment of the additional Patriot system to Adana province, supplementing the existing Spanish Patriot system. This move came after NATO intercepted a missile from Iran that had entered Turkish airspace and was neutralized over the eastern Mediterranean. The deployment aims to enhance security measures for Turkish airspace and citizens.
In a separate incident, Israel and the United States conducted joint attacks on Tehran and other Iranian cities on February 28, resulting in casualties including Iran’s then-supreme leader and senior military figures. In response, Iran launched missile and drone strikes targeting Israeli and US bases in the Middle East.
