On the 60th death anniversary of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Randeep Hooda, the actor-filmmaker, honored the freedom fighter by recalling his life. Hooda mentioned that Savarkar observed an indefinite fast until his passing, which he likened to a form of ‘samadhi’. Taking to Instagram, Hooda shared glimpses of Savarkar and his own portrayal of the freedom fighter in a film. He highlighted the lesser-known aspects of Savarkar’s final days, emphasizing his fasting until the end.
Randeep Hooda depicted Savarkar in the biographical drama film “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar,” released in 2024. The movie delves into Savarkar’s life from his early years, portraying significant events with reverence towards the central character. Praised for the actors’ performances, the film narrates Savarkar’s journey from his student days in England to his role in India’s fight for independence.
Currently, Randeep Hooda is occupied with the filming of “Eetha” alongside Shraddha Kapoor. Directed by Laxman Utekar, “Eetha” explores the life of one of India’s pioneering Tamasha/Lavni dancers, presenting a culturally rich and compelling narrative. Additionally, Randeep and his wife, Lin Laishram, are expecting their first child, as announced on Instagram on November 29.
Randeep and Lin, who met at Naseeruddin Shah’s theatre group Motley, confirmed their relationship during the lockdown period. Making their bond official on Instagram in 2022, the couple tied the knot in a traditional Meitei ceremony in Manipur on November 29, 2023. Furthermore, Randeep Hooda has acquired the movie rights for “Operation Khukri: The Untold Story of the Indian Army’s Bravest Peacekeeping Mission Abroad” by Major General Rajpal Punia and Damini Punia, for an upcoming epic war drama.
